What to Expect When You Stop By

Visitors will find the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center located at 201 S. Canyon Street in West Yellowstone. The wildlife park is open daily all year long making it an easy addition to even the busiest of itineraries. The Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center is a family-friendly location in West Yellowstone that’s proud to be AZA-accredited and committed to educating the public as well as providing rehabilitation services for local wildlife.

When you stop by, you can plan on seeing everything from grizzly bears and wolves to otters and more. Visitors are often fascinated by the River Otter Exhibit and replicated habitat featuring everything from ponds and streams to waterfalls as well. There’s also an area of the wildlife park fully dedicated to showcasing amphibians and invertebrates like Western Tiger Salamanders, trout, and cutthroat. If you’re stopping by with little ones in tow, you won’t want to miss out on the Keeper Kid’s area, where children can hide bear food and learn more about the dietary habits of these impressive creatures.

There’s a live birds-of-prey exhibit to explore and opportunities to view two separate on-site wolf packs from a place within the park’s Naturalist Cabin. There’s a wolf enrichment center to explore at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center as well as ranger talks that are hosted daily. You’ll want to check out the Bear Museum while you’re here and take part in the Safety in Bear Country programs that are offered to those who are looking to head out and explore the local national park trails.

Planning Your Visit

If your visit to West Yellowstone happens between May 17 and September 2, you can visit the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center between 8:30 am and 7:00 pm daily. If you’re heading this way between September 3 and October 27, the doors to the discovery center will be open from 8:30 am until 6:00 pm. From October 28 through December 31, visitors can enjoy the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm. General admission is $16.50 for adults 13 and up while children 5 to 12 can enjoy entrance for $11.50. Visitors 4 years of age and under enjoy free entrance to the wildlife park. When you purchase a ticket, admission is good for two days at a time, and group rates are available upon request.
