Outside of the warmest summer months, evening temperatures are often in the 40s or below. We recommend opening the windows in the evening to enjoy the cool mountain air, then closing the windows and lowering the shades during the day to help keep the lodge naturally cool and comfortable.

Winter transforms the area into a snowy playground. Explore Yellowstone by snowmobile from the West Entrance, ride the scenic Two Top snowmobile trails, cross-country ski the nearby World-Renowned Rendezvous Ski Trails, or enjoy sledding, tubing, and snowshoeing.

Yellowstone National Park Operating Dates

The West Entrance to Yellowstone National Park operates seasonally. The summer season typically runs from the 3rd Saturday in April through November 1st. The entrance closes for the fall shoulder season and typically reopens in mid-December for the winter oversnow travel season, which runs through mid-March. After the winter oversnow season ends, the West Entrance remains closed until the summer season begins in April.

Operating dates are subject to change based on park conditions. Please confirm current Yellowstone National Park operating dates before booking your stay.
